Wee Coorie In
Softly, slow…
Coorie in, coorie in, close as can be,
Like a woolen plaid wrapped round thee.
No wind shall bite, no rain shall fall,
When we’re tucked tight beneath the wall.
A blanket soft as heather’s bloom,
Warm as peat-fire in the room.
The world outside may wild be still,
But here is peace, and calm, and will.
Coorie in, coorie in, rest thy wee head,
Safe as lamb in bracken bed.
Warmth seeps deep to bone and heart,
And all the day’s cares fall apart.
Through starry night and quiet moon,
This coorie hug shall last till noon.
Sleep deep, sleep sound, my bonnie one,
Wrapped in love till morning comes.
A wee note on the words:
Coorie in means to snuggle, huddle, or nestle close — just like pulling a soft blanket right up to your chin.
